At Brooklands we aim to ensure that all our pupils are encouraged to explore and experience art in all its richness and diversity.
Our children have regular opportunities to learn and develop their creative skills, techniques including drawing, painting and sculpture and have the opportunity to evaluate and analyse creative works.
We are fortunate at Brooklands to be situated in a region that is steeped in art heritage and this supports our children’s rich and vibrant experience. All of our children have regular opportunities to visit galleries in the region such as the visual arts organisation based in Colchester, Firstsite. Brooklands also regularly welcomes professional artists to the school for workshops including ceramics and printmaking.
As you walk around the school you will see many displays of our children’s creativity. Each child also has their own sketch book in which they capture their work and maintain a record of their progression and skills through their time with us. This is a great way for them to see how their skills and knowledge are developing and growing and share their work.
We are fortunate to have the role model of Charlie Goddard teaching at the school who has a degree in photography. With the help from Charlie’s knowledge, skills and passion for photography, Brooklands children regularly enter national photographic competitions.
