Farm School
The emphasis Brooklands places on learning outside the classroom reflects the value we place on educating our children on the importance of agriculture, the role of farming in delivering food to our tables and the role wildlife and conservation play in building and maintaining a thriving countryside. We use farming, food production and the natural environment topics within our curriculum.
We see regular visits to farms for all year groups throughout the year from our children visiting Easton Farm Park to meet and feed the farm animals to our children visiting Boxford Farm, a soft fruits farm in Ardleigh.
Our Early Years children experience chick hatching as well as a visit from a mobile farm where they groom and handle a range of farm animals from goats to ponies. Our Year 1 children take part in ‘Tractors in Schools’ initiative where a local farmer brings their tractor to our school. Our Year 3 and Year 4 children attend the School Farm and Country Fair at Trinty Park to learn about the importance of agriculture to Suffolk.
Our children also use technology to connect with farmers as part of the Farmer Time initiative where they are able to ask questions and learn more about life on a farm.
